Where Legacy Meets Vision
Some things are destined to come together. A vineyard with four decades of greatness. A family with a relentless pursuit of excellence. A winemaker whose craft has defined a generation. Paul Family Vineyards is the realization of that destiny.
In 2024, Andy Paul and Margaret Paul, alongside their sons, acquired Diamond T Ranch — a legendary mountaintop vineyard in Carmel Valley, Monterey County. First planted in 1982 by the visionary Robert Talbott, Diamond T earned its place among the most revered vineyard sites in the world when its Chardonnay achieved a perfect 100-point score from Wine Spectator — a testament to the extraordinary terroir of this land.
For the Paul family, this was more than an acquisition — it was a calling. Rooted in the values of hard work, integrity, and an unwavering refusal to compromise, Andy and Margaret saw in Diamond T Ranch not simply a vineyard, but a legacy worth honoring. They set out to build something that would stand alongside the very best in the world.
To bring this vision to life, the Pauls turned to David Hejl — one of the most respected and accomplished figures in California winemaking. As the founder and winemaker of Domaine Della, and the former CEO and General Manager of the iconic Kosta Browne, David brings decades of expertise and an uncompromising eye for quality that few in the world can match.
Under David's leadership, Kosta Browne became one of the most sought-after and critically acclaimed wineries in America before its landmark sale in 2015. His own label, Domaine Della, has earned widespread recognition for its exceptional, terroir-driven Pinot Noir. Now, he brings that same passion, precision, and artistic vision to the vineyards of Diamond T Ranch — crafting wines that honor four decades of extraordinary potential.
Together, the Paul family and David Hejl form something remarkable — a partnership built on shared values, mutual respect, and a singular vision: to create a premier luxury winery that compromises nothing in its pursuit of excellence. Every decision, from vineyard stewardship to barrel selection, is guided by one simple principle — only the very best.
Paul Family Vineyards proudly introduces its inaugural release in 2026 — the 2024 vintage Chardonnay from Diamond T Ranch. Future releases will include Pinot Noir from this remarkable estate. We invite you to join us at the beginning of something extraordinary.
The Paul Family
Diamond T Ranch Is Born
Visionary Robert Talbott plants Chardonnay vines with the Corton-Charlemagne clone on a 1,200-foot mountaintop in Carmel Valley. Grown in chalky shale soil with almost no topsoil, the vines would prove to possess extraordinary character from the very beginning.

A Perfect Score
Just eight years after planting, Diamond T Chardonnay achieves a perfect 100-point score from Wine Spectator — announcing this mountaintop vineyard as one of the most exceptional sites in American winemaking. The wine world takes notice.

Pinot Noir Arrives
Select acres of Diamond T Ranch are planted with elite Pinot Noir — Pommard and Dijon clones chosen for their affinity with the site's unique terroir. The vineyard's cool maritime climate and well-drained shale soils prove ideal for both varieties.
